Football Manager Champions League: From 0 Goals to 3 Straight Wins

Seven game days into the Champions League league phase in Lazy Football, and Chain Rovers sit on 10 points. Three wins, one draw, three losses. On paper, that looks average. But the story behind those numbers is one of the wildest turnarounds I've had in this football manager game.

The first four CL games produced zero goals for us. Zero. We lost three and drew one. I genuinely wondered if we belonged at this level. Then something clicked. The last three games? Eight goals scored, zero conceded, three wins in a row. Same team. Same season. Completely different results.

The Dark Start: Four Games, No Goals

I wrote about this period already, and it was painful to live through. Game day 1 away to Lazy Family — they fielded 21,781 match power against our 15,743. We lost 0-1. Tough but expected. They're one of the strongest clubs in the entire game.

Game day 2 was the low point. chibas came to our ground and won 7-0. Their match power was 17,177 to our 14,252. I knew they were better, but 7-0 at home? That hurt. I talked about what that loss taught me back then, and I stand by it. Sometimes you need to get destroyed to understand where you really are.

Game day 3 brought a 0-0 draw against Johnbikk. They were slightly stronger at 15,359 vs our 14,441. A draw felt like progress after conceding seven, but still — no goals scored in three CL games.

Game day 4, away to MAIN OFFICE. Lost 0-1. Their 15,426 match power edged our 14,662. Close game, but another blank. Four Champions League matches. Zero goals. Three losses. One draw. I covered that drought in detail a couple of weeks ago.

At that point, the CL campaign looked dead.

The Turn: Scoring Again in the Champions League

Game day 5 changed everything. Away to Crypto Sloths, we won 4-0. Match power was in our favor — 14,357 to 10,315 — but after four scoreless games, just putting the ball in the net felt like a breakthrough. I remember thinking: maybe we just needed weaker opponents to rebuild confidence.

But game day 6 proved it wasn't just about facing weaker teams. LiverpoolFC came to our ground and we beat them 3-0. Our 13,971 against their 10,933. Clean sheet. Three goals. Two home CL games in a row where we actually looked like we belonged in this online football manager tournament.

The real test was today.

Game Day 7: Winning Against a Much Stronger Team

Go Ahead Boars away. Their match power: 17,201. Ours: 11,255. Read those numbers again. They were nearly 6,000 power stronger than our lineup. That gap is massive in Lazy Football. Normally, a team 6,000 power below gets crushed.

We won 1-0.

This wasn't a lucky result against a team having a bad day. Go Ahead Boars are a strong club. Beating them away with such a big power gap might be our most impressive CL result this season. More impressive than the 4-0. More impressive than the 3-0. Because those wins came when we had the power advantage. This one didn't.

The article I wrote after the Crypto Sloths game called that win the end of the drought. Turns out it was just the beginning of something bigger.

Two Campaigns, One Squad

What makes this CL run interesting is that it happens alongside a Championship campaign that's going extremely well. In Northern Windsland D1, Chain Rovers have 35 points from 13 games. Eleven wins, two draws, zero losses. Sixty goals scored, two conceded.

Yesterday we beat Pinkman 5-0 at home in the Championship. Before that, 3-0 away to KitsuneMoon. Before that, 4-0 away to Goddess. The league form is strong.

But the Championship is a different world from the CL. In the league, most opponents are significantly weaker. Power gaps of 4,000-8,000 in our favor are common. We can rotate players and still win by comfortable margins. The CL doesn't work like that. In the CL, you face clubs with squads as strong or stronger than yours. Every mistake costs you. Managing energy across both competitions requires real planning.

Today's CL lineup had 11,255 match power. Yesterday's Championship lineup had 14,084. That's a big difference for the same club. Running two competitions means tough choices about where to put your strongest players each day.

The Numbers Tell the Story

Split the seven CL game days in half and the contrast is dramatic:

First 4 games: 0 goals scored. 9 goals conceded. 0 wins, 1 draw, 3 losses.

Last 3 games: 8 goals scored. 0 goals conceded. 3 wins, 0 draws, 0 losses.

Same squad. Same buildings. Same training setup. The team didn't transform overnight — we just found our rhythm. Early in the CL, we faced the toughest opponents on the schedule (Lazy Family, chibas, MAIN OFFICE). Those matches exposed gaps. But they also taught us what this level demands.

Now we're the ones doing the damage. Three clean sheets in a row across the CL. Eight goals in three games after scoring zero in four. Football management is full of these swings. You go from feeling hopeless to feeling dangerous in the span of a week.

Championship Race: Still Chasing MAIN OFFICE

The CL turnaround is great, but the Championship title race deserves attention too. Here's where the top three stand after 13 game days:

MAIN OFFICE leads with 37 points. Twelve wins, one draw, zero losses. Their goal difference is 62-0. Yes, zero goals conceded in thirteen Championship matches. That's not a typo. chibas sits second with 35 points — 75 goals scored and just 1 conceded. We're third, also on 35 points, with 60 goals scored and 2 conceded.

All three teams are unbeaten. MAIN OFFICE has that two-point cushion because they've won one more game than us. We both drew the same number (two), but their draws came at different times. Catching them means they need to drop points. With the form they're in — 62 goals, zero conceded — that's a tall order.

But anything can happen. chibas and MAIN OFFICE will play each other at some point. When two unbeaten teams with those kinds of records meet, someone's streak ends. We just need to keep winning and wait for our chance.

What Comes Next

Tomorrow we play FalconScream away in the Championship. They're 10th with 12 points, so we should be strong favorites. Then the schedule gets interesting — a Contenders League match against MAIN OFFICE on April 27, and a CL game day 16 match against Arbitrageus on April 28.

Playing MAIN OFFICE in any competition is always tough. They have 12,485 squad power and that ridiculous defensive record. Arbitrageus sits 4th in our Championship table with 31 points — they're not a pushover either.

The busy schedule continues. One game per day. Championship and CL alternating. Every result matters. But after the way the CL has turned around, I'm feeling more confident than I was two weeks ago. We went from rock bottom to a three-game winning streak. We proved we can beat stronger teams away from home. That's the kind of form you want heading into the final stretch.
